The first episode of REAL TALK / KIP TALK was taped on Dec 3 at 8pm at the Abrons Arts Center Playhouse.
REAL TALK / KIP TALK explodes the theatrical form and invites audiences to take part in a live, taped talk show that is equal parts fireside chat and greenroom grit.
The first episode of REAL TALK / KIP TALK featured interviews with a coterie of special guests including Claire Mazur (Of a Kind co-founder) and Marguriete Wade (Full Court). “Artistic Directors on Divans Dunking Donuts,” received its inaugural screening in which Eliza Bent interviews Niegel Smith (the Flea). After a commercial break, wherein the greenroom comes to the stage, a roundtable unfolded in which “real talk” about the performance field as situated in the political sphere and related to race and gender took place featuring Sarah Benson (Soho Rep), Cusi Cram (“The Big C”) and Leah Nanako Winkler (Kentucky).
Episode #1 of REAL TALK / KIP TALK was directed by Modesto Flako Jimenez, designed by Christopher Bowser, taped by David Pym, sounded by Skylar Fox, associate produced by Charlotte Murray and executive produced by Eliza Bent with video editing of ADoDDD by Eva von Schweinitz.
